Meet Caitlin

SHE/HER/hers

My name is Caitlin!

Thank you so much for visiting Everspring!

I understand that finding a new provider can be overwhelming. But, just by beginning to look, you are taking the first essential steps to make things slightly less overwhelming. Pat yourself on the back; you are investing in yourself!

Finding the right therapist is a lot like shopping for the right pair of jeans; fit is crucial. That is why I always have a 15 minute phone consultation with prospective clients so that we can see if we’re a good fit for one another. I can answer any questions you may have and see if I can help support what you hope to get out of therapy. Feel free to read about my practice or email me to get started.

I’m looking forward to meeting you!

My Approach

I have always approached my clients with an inclusive, strengths-based approach that recognizes an individual’s strengths and abilities. I meet my clients where they are, and aim to make each session as productive as possible for individual growth. I also use humor, when appropriate, to bring lightness to sessions.

What I Usually See

I really enjoy working with adult clients who are 23 years old and older and experience..

  • Anxiety
  • Difficulty managing work stress
  • Challenges balancing a high-achieving work life with a rewarding personal life
  • Difficulty managing anxiety or grief around a chronic illness
  • Grief around a loved one’s chronic illness
  • Trouble dealing with caregiver burnout
  • Women’s Issues
  • LGBTQIA+ affirming

Techniques/Skills

My preferred treatment method is a combination of talk therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). However, I also integrate ideas and techniques from Exposure Response Prevention, Polyvagal Theory,  Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and more into my approach. I tailor my methods to my individual clients’ needs, and help them better understand why they are experiencing anxiety-related or stress-related symptoms, and how to deal with them.

ART is an innovative, cutting edge, evidence-based model of eye movement therapy.  It provides a therapeutic space to process the details of the event(s). Clients have also reported having more self-compassion, clarity, forgiveness, and feeling less reactive to circumstances that were once triggering to them

The outcome of this therapy allows for a shifted perspective, refreshed outlook on life, and for some a feeling of calm and relief from physical symptoms of anxiety.  As of today, evidence has shown that positive results can be observed in a minimum of 3-5 sessions.  ART is a creative therapy with client-centered approach that can be used to help individuals dealing with anxiety, phobias, grief, and trauma. ART can allow your brain to more deeply process and understand the origin of any themes, beliefs, or habits in your life that keeps you from doing the things you want to accomplish in your life. ART utilizes elements of Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Guided Imagery, Psychodynamic Therapy, and other known and trusted therapies.

How ART Works

Research and Evidence

In addition to my background in ART, I am also trained as a Palliative Care Resource Professional. I have helped individuals and their family members manage:

– day to day experiences of managing a chronic illness

– difficult feelings around chronic or terminal illnesses

– discussions about comfort in the end stages of life

My goal is to empower individuals to support themselves and those they love during transitions of loss and grief, and thereby find comfort, connection, and relief.

My Journey

Over the years, I worked in a variety of settings, with individuals of different ages, races, and ethnicities. Most of my experience has been within the criminal justice, healthcare, and private practice settings.

Some of my earliest training was at The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. There, I had the honor to train as a Victim Advocate and subsequently worked on local, state, and federal coalitions assisting within the Diversion Unit and reentry court system.

In the healthcare setting, I counseled patients and families facing chronic, life-threatening illnesses. I connected them to community resources and empowered them to make choices in their care that felt right for them. I also helped patients manage anxiety related to their health or a loved one’s medical condition. When needed, I also supported patients and their families through the grief of losing a loved one.

As a private practice therapist, I have particularly enjoyed working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and those struggling with life transitions, anxiety, panic attacks, women’s issues, and chronic illness.

Some quick facts about me:

I love my adopted Miniature Schnauzer named Captain–he sometimes makes appearances in online sessions!

I enjoy tending to my tropical houseplants.

I recharge from art and, in particular, ceramics. Some of my plants even live in pots I have made.

I enjoy the balance of nature and city energy…good thing Charlotte has both!

Telehealth

I offer telehealth to anyone who lives in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Pennsylvania. To ensure that Telehealth is the best option for your specific needs, I will have a quick, initial screening to ensure that it is clinically appropriate to meet virtually, and that we are a good fit based on your goals for therapy.
